It’s Mitigation June!

Mitigation June is a great opportunity to learn about local risks and take steps to reduce the impact of natural hazards.

We can’t predict or avoid earthquakes, but we can lessen their effects and reduce human and financial consequences by investing now in mitigation. Individuals can take a lot of actions to prepare themselves and their homes. Communities can be made safer, more economically resilient, and sustainable when everyone—residents, building professionals, engineers, community planners, and elected officials—understands the local risks and works together on mitigation.

Throughout June, FEMA Region 10 is highlighting a wide variety of ideas, resources, and tools that can help people assess and mitigate risks to achieve greater resilience before the next natural disaster strikes.
